Four years ago, my mom, aka my favorite person in the entire world lost her fight with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease. I miss her every single day since she passed, but it also broke my heart watching her struggle through this disease for 10 years and slowly fade away from the person I knew her to be. She was a massive Beatles fan, loved all things showtunes and Broadway, the most cheerful and sunny person you'd ever meet, a passionate teacher, and most importantly, my best friend. I’m who I am today because I was blessed with her for a Mom and because of this disease she only lives on in my memories when she should still be here.
I'm running the Falmouth Road Race to raise money and awareness for the Alzheimer's Association to support all those still caring for someone with this disease and so that one day there may be a cure. No one should have to go through this awful disease, and no one should know the pain and heart break of losing someone to it.
