Bill Murphy is an endurance athlete with an extraordinary mission: to bring hope and joy to children battling life-threatening illnesses.

For the past 19 years, Bill has partnered with Make-A-Wish®, helping to grant over 88 wishes and raising more than $920,000 to support children facing life-threatening illnesses.

Bill’s journey is fueled by the stories of the children he runs for—like Bethany, a Make-A-Wish recipient. Their story began when Bill, recovering from an injury and hosting a virtual Boston Marathon on crutches, caught Bethany’s attention. She showed up in her local community to support him and his mission. The two crossed the finish line together and since then, had created a long-lasting bond between Bethany and Bill. 

Since that day, Bethany has continued to inspire Bill and countless others with her support and spirit. Their connection has grown through unforgettable shared moments—most notably when Bethany traveled to Miami to cross the finish line with Bill in his final marathon during the Great World Race.

This summer, they’ll reunite once again at the Falmouth Road Race—a meaningful symbol of resilience, friendship, and the heart behind every mile. Bill is honored to run alongside Bethany once more as they work together to raise funds for wishes still waiting to be granted. Her support continues to motivate him—and all who hear their story—to keep pushing forward for hope, healing, and every child still dreaming.
