I'm running the 53rd ASICS Falmouth Road Race for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation (https://joeandruzzifoundation.org/about-us/). All money raised will go directly to New England families who are facing financial insecurities related to their cancer diagnosis and treatment.
I am running in memory of my brother, Michael Vito Lombardo. Michael passed from a rare T cell Lymphoma on July 6, 2024 at the age of 37. Michael leaves behind an incredible legacy for his two young daughters, Sophia (12) and Olivia (8), his loving wife, Jessica, devoted family, and his company GlideFast Consulting (https://glidefast.com/), as well as many close friends and colleagues around the world.
Michael loved his family and friends beyond words, lived every day life to the utmost fullest, was strong, confident, didn't take no for an answer, never took things too seriously, always had fun, laughed his way through life, worked really hard, loved really hard, and gave way more than he took. Mike's passion for philanthropy grew in the latter years of his life and he hoped to have more time to continue to give back and help people in need.
We are carrying that torch forward for Mike- help us make a difference. Cancer is pure evil and likely has affected each of our lives. It's relentless and an enemy that you truly have to go to war with to beat. Fighting cancer is hard enough, worrying about how you are going to be able to pay the bills while fighting cancer is unacceptable.
Let's work together to take that burden away so cancer patients can focus on their fight.
As Michael would say LFGGGG!!!!
I adore you, Michael. Every step is for you.
Description
The Joe Andruzzi Foundation (JAF) is committed to providing assistance to patients of all ages, any cancer, throughout New England who are struggling financially due to a cancer diagnosis. JAF understands that everyday living expenses don’t stop because of a diagnosis, and JAF provides various programs to help patients make ends meet. Because patients and families must often devote all their energy and resources toward treatment, the Foundation helps alleviate financial and emotional stress by providing grants to assist with rent/mortgage, transportation to treatment, food, and more. Through our Assistance Programs, the grant recipients can focus on their cancer treatment and not the financial distress that comes with it.
