My Story…

Dear Friends and Family,

As tradition holds, I am running the 2025 Falmouth Road Race, a race that is beloved to me with years of fond and special memories with the best friends and family.  This year will be my 18th race, missing only one race in 2017 when I was 8 months pregnant with my daughter (I did run while pregnant my son in 2015, which he thinks is so cool). In past years, running this race was extremely personal. It was a reason to celebrate, enjoy beautiful Cape Cod, and meet my personal goals.  This year this race has a bit more purpose and I’m honored to be running as a charity runner for MGH’s Lurie Center for Autism.  For those of you who know me, both the Falmouth Road Race and advocating for research and discovery at MGH comes second to none.  So, running this year’s race for MGH and The Lurie Center for Autism feels just right.  The Lurie Center is an advocacy program dedicated to treating individuals with autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disorders across the lifespan. I’m proud to run for this important initiative and would like to ask you in join me in raising money to advance knowledge of the causes of and treatments for autism spectrum disorder and other developmental disorders. Together we can make a difference. Thank you!

With love and gratitude,

Jamie

Description

All money raised through the ASICS Falmouth Road Race will help fund the Lurie Center's Family Support Team; a consultative lifeline helping patients & families navigate the difficult medical, therapeutic and life decisions related to caring for an individual with autism. Whether it is a question about insurance, educational support, adult services, or a sibling adjustment concern, because of the generous donations collected through this event, the Family Support Team is just a phone call away. They meet one-on-one with families, but also field an estimated 7,500 calls per year, and make an additional 4,500+ follow-up calls.

Autism diagnoses are on the rise. The number of patients seen at the Lurie Center is growing steadily with more than 10,000 appointments during the last year. Unfortunately, less than half of the clinical costs are covered by health insurance reimbursements.

Charitable support is essential for the vitality of the clinic and there is an extraordinary opportunity to double this event's fundraising efforts. Thanks to the Nancy Lurie Marks Foundation, every donation received will be matched dollar for dollar.
