I'm Making My Miles More Meaningful with Team DetermiNation!
Hi! We are Tiana and Jaida, and we are both rising seniors at Northeastern University. Cancer has affected so many people that we know and love, from our loved ones or our friends. This is what inspired us to join the American Cancer Society's Team DetermiNation's 2025 ASICS Falmouth Road Race team.
Tiana: In 2018, my beloved granduncle passed away from cancer that had started in his lungs and spread to his brain, and rest of his body. He had fought lung cancer once before and beat it before it took him away from us again. Seeing firsthand how cancer affected him and my family led me to join the fight in ending cancer. My granduncle was such a light in our life, always making us laugh, telling us funny stories, and was always there for us when we needed him. I hope to continue his memory on through this race. We miss him each and every day.
Jaida: As an enthusiastic Pre-Medical student attending Northeastern University, I am actively participating in a charity run with the American Cancer Society, aiming to make a meaningful contribution to the fight against cancer.
Throughout my personal journey, I have witnessed the unexpected cancer diagnoses of several cherished family members and close companions.
The year 2017 marked the heartbreaking loss of my beloved grandfather due to this relentless disease. Furthermore, this past year, my beautiful, kind-hearted, loving grandmother, who many of you know as Nanny Ging, was diagnosed with breast cancer. Watching her keep a positive attitude but fight relentlessly is another motivator to do this race. She inspires me each and every day to push through the challenges and smile through life. She is loved so dearly by everyone she meets and I want to do this for her and all those fighting. Her brother recently passed away from cancer and I will be keeping each and every one of them in my heart during this race. It is truly for all of them.
All in all, driven by my aspirations to become a Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Surgeon, I am channeling my determination into training for this event. Your generous donations would mean the world to me, serving as a testament to your support for this noble cause. By contributing, you are helping make a positive impact on a vulnerable and deserving community. Your assistance is genuinely invaluable, and I extend my heartfelt gratitude for joining me in giving back.
Let's all continue to work together and END CANCER!

Why I Support the American Cancer Society
Cancer has affected so many people I know and love that it’s inspired me to join the American Cancer Society's Team DetermiNation's 2025 ASICS Falmouth Road Race team. Taking part in this iconic and historical road race with DetermiNation gives me the chance to make a difference and honor those touched by cancer by raising funds for groundbreaking research and impactful services for people going through a cancer diagnosis. I’m also participating to inspire hope for those facing the disease. I hope you’ll consider signing up too or supporting my efforts.
Funds raised support cancer patient programs and groundbreaking research that can help save lives. This event also celebrates over 18.1 million cancer survivors nationwide. 18.1 MILLION. That’s huge. That’s why I’d love your support. Will you join me? And if you can’t would you be so kind as to make a donation?
