My family lost my mother and my grandmother to Alzheimer's disease. The caregiving journey was long and painful, but we worked together to maintain their quality of life and honor them in their final years. My brother Banker White and his wife Anna Fitch shared our story in a documentary film called The Genius of Marian which aired on PBS in 2014. This past year I am proud to announce we began streaming the film online for free. You can watch the film here: The Genius of Marian
I am honored to run the 2025 Falmouth Road Race to remember my mother and grandmother and to raise money for the Alzheimer's Association who helped us a great deal during the most difficult years.
Currently there are more than 6 million Americans living with Alzheimer's and over 11 million people providing unpaid care for them. This disease will cost the US over $345 billion in 2025. It kills more than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined. 1 in 3 seniors die from it, two thirds of those living with Alzheimer's are women, and one in five women over 45 will be diagnosed. These facts, and more, are staggering and the prevalence continues to rise.
