My Story…
Hi friends!
This August 17th, I will be joining Sarah, Steve, and their amazing Courageous Parents Network team to run the Falmouth Road Race. For more than a decade Courageous Parents Network, has oriented, equipped and empowered families caring for children with serious medical conditions. I'm thrilled to run and raise funds to help them continue this amazing work.
To make this race even more meaningful, I will be running in honor of Jacob and his family. I had the privilege of meeting Jacob's amazing mother Maria recently, and she shared the following about her beloved son:
"Jacob lived with mitochondrial disease for ten beautiful years. Jacob's lungs and brain were especially impacted by his disease, which led to frequent hospital stays and Jacob living with seizures his whole life. With the daily medical challenges facing Jacob, it was as if he was running a very challenging marathon each day. Despite Jacob's many medical challenges, he was a very happy, resilient, and feisty boy. Jacob loved going to school and art and music were his two most favorite subjects. In the summertime, you found Jacob in the neighborhood swimming pool. He also loved the Minions, and we watched the movies endless times. Jacob also loved the Minion song "Happy" and there was nothing he wanted more from Santa than a Minion fart blaster. He loved spending time with his families and especially if he could watch a movie with his sister. What helped Jacob to live a happy and quality life is that we had palliative care minded physicians on Jacob's team who understood our family's overall goals and needs. This is also where CPN is an invaluable resource to families like ours."
Maria also shared these beautiful pictures. I think my favorite is the one of Jacob in the gray striped shirt with that adorable little half smile.  He looks like he is imminently ready to share a joke that will have everyone laughing hysterically! I'm so thankful to Jacob's family for allowing me to in some small way be a part of this journey and honor their amazing kiddo and family.
Please consider donating to support the incredible work of the CPN and all the families they serve.
