I'm running the 53rd ASICS Falmouth Road Race for the Joe Andruzzi Foundation
As many know, my son, Daniel was diagnosed with CML (Chronic Myeloid Leukemia) in 2023 after a routine procedure. We were shocked and horrified for him and scared. At first, he was put on a medication that would have been a $30,000 per month, yes you read that right, cost; obviously we were not going to have to pay that but WOW talk about scary moments. All the questions, how will the little things get paid for, where should we go for help? I have friend who worked for a local organization and helped us reach out for guidance. Lucky for Daniel he was supported by a local organization like JAF and is in a clinical trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering. Treatment has been going well and he is currently undetectable.
I have another friend and her daughter who work with JAF, they help families in this type of need, it is scary at first but then there are organizations like this one and the one that helped Daniel who make the difference. That is why I chose this race and this organization and I'm excited to help contribute to all of the good things they do for the New England Region.
I am raising funds and running with the Joe Andruzzi Foundation, a group that helps families with cancer.
Please support my efforts.
Description
The Joe Andruzzi Foundation (JAF) is committed to providing assistance to patients of all ages, any cancer, throughout New England who are struggling financially due to a cancer diagnosis. JAF understands that everyday living expenses don’t stop because of a diagnosis, and JAF provides various programs to help patients make ends meet. Because patients and families must often devote all their energy and resources toward treatment, the Foundation helps alleviate financial and emotional stress by providing grants to assist with rent/mortgage, transportation to treatment, food, and more. Through our Assistance Programs, the grant recipients can focus on their cancer treatment and not the financial distress that comes with it.
