My Story…
Running for Jameson — Running for a Cure
Running the Falmouth Road Race has always been a bucket list goal of mine — and this year, I’m finally making it happen. But I’m not running just for the experience. I’m running for my son, Jameson.
In May 2024, just after turning five, Jameson was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. What started as a visit to the doctor for some strange symptoms quickly turned into a life-changing moment. He was rushed to the hospital, where we spent five overwhelming days learning how to care for him and adjust to a new normal filled with needles, numbers, and constant vigilance. It was terrifying and exhausting. But in the middle of the chaos, we found a lifeline: Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF).
The support, education, and hope Breakthrough T1D provided to our family during those early days — and ever since — has been truly invaluable. That’s why I’m proud to be running the 2025 Falmouth Road Race as part of Team Breakthrough T1D, helping to raise funds and awareness for a cause that means everything to us.
Breakthrough T1D is on a mission to turn Type 1 Diabetes into a condition of the past. They fund cutting-edge research, connect the brightest minds, and drive innovation to cure, prevent, and treat T1D and its complications. Their work gives families like mine real hope for a future without Type 1.
This is personal. This is passionate. This is for Jameson — and for the millions of others living with T1D.
Please consider supporting me and this incredible organization by donating. Every step I run is one closer to a cure.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. 💙
Description
Welcome to my personal Breakthrough T1D fundraising page!
I have joined Breakthrough T1D to raise funds for the millions of people living with and affected by type 1 diabetes (T1D). The money I raise will help Breakthrough T1D fund critical research to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people's lives until no one has to fear developing the disease.
Type 1 diabetes is a life-threatening autoimmune disease in which a person's pancreas stops producing insulin—a hormone essential to the ability to get energy from food. It strikes both children and adults suddenly and changes life as they know it forever. It cannot be prevented and there is no cure.
Breakthrough T1D is the largest nongovernmental funder of T1D research and the only global organization with a strategic research plan to fight T1D. This science is complex and costly, and every dollar Breakthrough T1D is able to direct toward research comes from donors like you.
The challenge I have set for myself — to raise money for Breakthrough T1D and to race — is modest compared to the daily challenges of life with T1D, which involves a 24/7, unrelenting cycle of blood sugar testing and insulin injections to manage the disease.
Please support me and donate to my fundraising campaign. Your gift will make a difference for millions of people affected by this devastating, life-threatening disease. Won't you please give to Breakthrough T1D as generously as possible today?
Thank you for your support!
