Help us raise funds to support Ellie Fund's mission
I am NOT a runner—very far from one. But I decided to run the Falmouth Road Race for the Ellie Fund in honor of my grandmother's sister, Dorothea Schirl, who was diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic breast cancer on March 22, 2025. Her journey with the diagnosis was brief, as she went home on hospice care and passed away on May 28, 2025.
The Ellie Fund provides the services and resources for breast cancer patients as they undergo what is undoubtedly one of the most daunting challenges of their lives.
Unfortunately, there seems to be no shortage of people battling this terrible disease (my fundraising goal is $1,441 for each of the 1,441 NEW Ellie Fund patients in 2024 alone).
I'll be running to raise funds for this organization that seeks to ease the burden on breast cancer patients and their families.
While training and running this race will be a personal challenge, the experience is put into perspective knowing that I'm running in support of the many people going through something drastically more difficult.
My Aunt Dot took her challenges in life, particularly her final one, with courage, humility, and grace, and I aim to do the same in my first Falmouth Road Race in her memory!
Thank you for any and all donations; they are greatly appreciated!
