In 2019, my world changed forever with the sudden and unexpected loss of my son, Steve. Steve was autistic—brilliant, funny, and uniquely himself. In the midst of my grief, I turned to running as a way to cope, to heal, and to carry forward his memory with each step I take. What began as a means of survival has since become a source of strength and purpose.

This year, I am honored to run the Falmouth Road Race in support of the Center for Applied Behavioral Instruction (CABI). Though Steve was not a student at CABI, I have seen first-hand the incredible impact that organizations like CABI have on autistic individuals and their families. These are not just programs—they are lifelines. They provide structure, support, and a chance for individuals to thrive in a world that doesn’t always understand them.

Running for CABI is deeply personal for me. It’s a way to give back to a community that reflects the kind of compassion, care, and commitment I wish every family could experience. It’s also a way to honor Steve’s life and legacy, by supporting a cause that aligns so closely with who he was and what he needed.
