ABOUT WATTS 2 BOSTON
Our mission at Watts 2 Boston is to provide young scholars from Watts, California resources and access to education while helping them navigate their path to and through college in the Boston area.
Watts is a neighborhood in Southeast LA known for its high crime rates, poverty, and lack of educational opportunities. With a median household income of just $25,161, many live well below the poverty line and only 3% of residents have a Bachelor's degree. Students in Watts face significant barriers to academic success such as limited access to quality education, gang violence, and family instability.
Watts 2 Boston addresses the educational and emotional needs of at-risk youth in Watts through academic placement, mentorship, & college preparation programs. We host professional development workshops and help students through every step of the college application process. We provide college tuition assistance and pair our college scholars with families in the area to support them as they achieve their college dreams.
Our students attend a variety of universities & each have their own stories but all are resilient, compassionate, & committed to their education. At Watts 2 Boston, we help them imagine and achieve a future beyond what their home environment might lead them to believe is possible.
We are appreciative of every mile run and every dollar donated as it immediately goes to help these young scholars.
