I am hiking in honour of my Dad, Frank Mason, and in support of the Foothills Country Hospice.

We lost Dad in 2022 after a courageous and valiant fight with cancer. True to form, he tackled every single day with resilience, grace, and an endless supply of love for his family. He didn't go down without a tremendous fight — because if you knew my Dad, you knew he never did anything halfway.

During his final weeks, we found ourselves at the Foothills Country Hospice — a place no family ever plans to need, but one we were deeply grateful for when life threw us that curveball. The care they provided wasn’t just medical — it was personal, heartfelt, and human. They supported Dad and all of us, in ways big and small, meeting us where we were with kindness and an endless amount of support.

It was a tough chapter in Dad’s story, but even then he was reminding all of us how to live with courage, humour, and love until he had to go.

I'm walking the 2025 Hike for Hospice Hustle to honour Dad’s incredible legacy — his strength, his wit, his heart — and to give back to the place that helped carry us when we needed it most.

Every step I take next Sunday is for him. Every laugh I share along the way is for him too. I get to walk with Mom and Aaron, so you know the three of us will get up to some fun, like we always do. 

We miss you every single day Dad. Whether it is your irreplaceable Frank Mason voice, your eyebrows raising when you got mad, the pure joy on your face when you indulged in a blizzard, the assurance you gave to others when they needed guidance, your competitive side during Fitbit challenges, the moment I busted you at Subway when you told me you were busy working out, the evil smile on your face when you stirred the pot at the dining room table, or the peace and joy you felt when you enjoyed live music - I promise you, we carry you with us, always.
