Our story…
Team Autoguard is coming together to support little James! Check out this WBTV interview: https://www.wbtv.com/2025/03/12/charlotte-baby-thriving-after-open-heart-surgeries-required-treat-life-threatening-heart-defect/
Mom & Dad shared:
Just over a year ago we found out that our baby (who ended up being the James we all know and love!) had a severe congenital heart defect (HRHS, TGA and PAPVR). From that moment on, life as we knew it was different. We became very familiar with the HEARTest Yard congenital heart center over at Levine Children’s hospital. All of my appointments to monitor and figure out the anatomy of James’ heart were at the HEARTest Yard clinic. I am so grateful for the world class facility that the foundation helped to build.
James was born and ended up having his first open heart surgery at two weeks old. After two weeks of recovery in the hospital, we were able to go home and we became a part of the CHAMP program (Complex Congenital Heart At Home Monitoring Program). We were given special equipment, thanks to the foundation, to be able to use at home to help make sure that James was okay before his next surgery.
James then had his second surgery on November 11th and graduated from the CHAMP program in December! He is doing so well and has received world class care and monitoring thanks to the HEARTest Yard foundation. We will have periodic follow ups with the neurodevelopment clinic there as well as monitoring his heart to know when it will be time for the next surgery (likely around 3 years old). We would not be where we are today without their support and what they have built with their partnership with Levine Children’s hospital.
We are so grateful for everything that the Olsen’s have done to pave a way for other families that experience the life of having a child with a CHD and we look forward to supporting them and giving back in any way that we can.
