My Story…
Run for the Raven Room – Every Step Builds a Better Classroom
Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School (KGMS) is a K–12 independent school in North Vancouver dedicated to empowering neurodiverse learners — students with dyslexia, ADHD, autism, and other learning differences — to reach their full potential.
This year, Team KGMS is running to renovate the Raven Room, home to our Grade 7 and 8 students. These incredible learners are at a pivotal stage of growth, building independence, confidence, and leadership skills as they prepare for high school. The updated classroom will feature flexible, sensory-friendly design, adaptive furniture, and calming décor — creating a space where every student feels supported and ready to thrive.
Our goal is to raise $15,000, and thanks to a generous $5,000 gift from the Smiley Foundation, we’re already off to a strong start!
Join us as we Run for the Raven Room and make every step count toward building a better, more inclusive classroom for our students.
Description
I am running in the BMO RUN4HOPE to support children with learning differences such as autism, anxiety, ADHD and dyslexia!
Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School is proud to announce its enthusiastic participation in the BMO RUN4HOPE event, a charitable run aimed at making a positive impact in the community. This year, our school community is running with a purpose - to raise funds in support of children with learning differences. We believe in the power of education and inclusivity, and by joining this event, we aim to create a brighter future for children who face unique learning challenges. Together, we are not only running for a healthier lifestyle but also running to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Join us in our journey to empower these young minds and provide them with the opportunities they deserve. Together, we can make a real change.
By supporting my run, you are:
- Supporting a healthier family life: KGMS assists and eases the heartache and stress that school struggles bring home. We provide in-school OG tutoring and the support and guidance that many families must seek outside of a traditional school environment.
- Supporting the value of education, inclusion and fairness: your donation will provide equitable access for children who learn differently. By donating, you help us continue to provide a safe and comfortable learning environment for our K-12 students.
- Honouring the KGMS teachers, tutors, counsellors and support staff who have made a difference in a child's life, and for the essential work they do every day. You are helping a child understand that they are capable and deserving of a bright future.
Thank you for your donation!
