My Story…

Hello,

Another year, another BMO Run!

This year, Chloe was planning to run alongside me, but we’ve just learned that her TREK kayaking trip falls on race day. She had been really looking forward to the challenge of running 8 km, so instead we’ll be setting our sights on next year.

KGMS continues to have an incredible ripple effect on Cam and on our whole family. With the increased confidence and sense of contentment he gains from each school day, Cam felt ready this year to take on extracurricular activities - something that once felt out of reach. He now attends Triathlon Club twice a week and Climbing twice a week (his true passion). The physical activity and coaching have given him a huge boost in energy and self‑confidence. It’s such a contrast from his previous school experience, when he was often too exhausted to do anything beyond screen time. He’s growing stronger every day and clearly understands how staying active supports his well‑being.

One particularly special experience this year was a two‑day trip to Evan’s Lake Camp with the Grade 6/7s. The students tried archery, rock climbing, and fire building, and played large group games in the forest. When Cam came home with team colours painted on his face, it was obvious just how energized and proud he felt.

As a Parent Association member at KGMS, I’ve had the chance to meet many families - some of whom have even moved across the country so their children could attend this school. So many share similar stories about the profound, positive impact KGMS has had on their children and on their family’s overall experience of school.

Thank you so much for considering adding your support to help refresh the Grade 7 classroom. It truly makes a difference.

Warmly,

Steph, Jon, Chloe, and Cameron

Description

I am running in the BMO RUN4HOPE to support children with learning differences such as autism, anxiety, ADHD and dyslexia!

Kenneth Gordon Maplewood School is proud to announce its enthusiastic participation in the BMO RUN4HOPE event, a charitable run aimed at making a positive impact in the community. This year, our school community is running with a purpose - to raise funds in support of children with learning differences. We believe in the power of education and inclusivity, and by joining this event, we aim to create a brighter future for children who face unique learning challenges. Together, we are not only running for a healthier lifestyle but also running to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most. Join us in our journey to empower these young minds and provide them with the opportunities they deserve. Together, we can make a real change.

By supporting my run, you are:

  • Supporting a healthier family life: KGMS assists and eases the heartache and stress that school struggles bring home. We provide in-school OG tutoring and the support and guidance that many families must seek outside of a traditional school environment.
  • Supporting the value of education, inclusion and fairness: your donation will provide equitable access for children who learn differently. By donating, you help us continue to provide a safe and comfortable learning environment for our K-12 students.
  • Honouring the KGMS teachers, tutors, counsellors and support staff who have made a difference in a child's life, and for the essential work they do every day. You are helping a child understand that they are capable and deserving of a bright future.

    Thank you for your donation!
