Route Maps

The 5K route starts in the lower bowl of the park, close to a major parking lot with washrooms and offers a mix of paved trails, crushed gravel trails which are very easy under foot and a long section of closed road on St George Blvd. The route flat is very flat and fast with only a couple of short inclines.
The first km is on paved trail around the park lake before transitioning into a crushed gravel trail. The 5K route exits the park onto the North West Trail to the 3.3K point where our water table is located, just as the runners make a sharp right turn onto the closed, inside lane of St George Blvd. This long straight section is just over 1km long, passing by the main park entrance before making a sharp right turn back into the park and left (clockwise) onto the paved trail around the lake, back to the finish line on the grass section in the lower bowl.

The 10K route will essentially follow the same route as the 5K to the point where the 5K route turns right off St George Blvd and back into the park. At this point the 10K will continue up St George Blvd and take a right turn into Firebreak Road (a wide undulating gravel trail). Runners stay on Firebreak to the bottom of the hill and make a left turn onto Lynx Trail where a water station will be.
Lynx trail is well maintained and swerves through the forest and around Jonathan Creek. It passes by the Bernice McNaughton High School before joining with Firebreak road to loop around. This section of the 10K route is entirely on gravel trails, easy underfoot but does feature some sharp turns as well as several short sharp hills. As runners exit the Lynx Trail they will turn right down Firebreak Trail and past the water station and up the hill to turn left onto Viceroy to run towards the finish line in the lower bowl.
Highlights include the park itself with its lakes, streams and tree lines trails, plus the North West Trail used by many cyclists, runners and walkers a trail link to other parts of the city. Just past the main park entrance keep an eye open for the recently refurbished Avro CF-100 aircraft . The aircraft is one of several monuments at Centennial Park, including a naval anchor, a World War Two tank and a century-old locomotive.
