This year I am walking the Back Half of the Pittsburgh Marathon and raising money for Magee-Women's Research Institute & Foundation.  This organization does so much research in the quest to "cure" cancer and helps so many!

Please feel free to donate to this worthy cause on my behalf.  And, I'm truly hopeful that the Pittsburgh winter weather is behind us and won't impact any future training walks.

I appreciate all of your words of encouragement and support along this journey and, for those of you who have been in my life along my whole cancer journey since 2004, your presence has definitely made a difference!

For those of you who don't know my story already, I was diagnosed in October 2004 with Triple Negative Breast Cancer; had a lumpectomy and lymph node surgery - which determined the need for chemotherapy (6 rounds of 3 drugs each time) and radiation (7 weeks of Monday-Friday treatment).  I had resumed my busy mom, wife, professional volunteer life, BUT my life took a turn in October 2007 when it was discovered that my cancer had metastasized to my left lung, chest wall lymph nodes and brain.  November 2007 included brain surgery, followed by 11 1/2 months of weekly chemo (3 weeks on, 1 week off) and Avastin (to prolong the life and efficacy of the chemo) on weeks 1 and 3.  After those 11 1/2 months, the treatment was Avastin only on weeks 1 and 3 for another 18 months.  Long road, but I am here to support others, provide INSPIRATION, and help to raise funds to ensure that the research and work does not end in the search for a cure.
