My Story…
Many of the people in my life don’t know just how much the city of Pittsburgh means to me. When I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, my world turned upside down. I was in and out of hospitals, missing school, missing friends, and trying to understand why my body was fighting against me. It was one of the hardest things I’ve ever been through.
But through it all, the care team at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh became my heroes. They didn’t just treat my illness they treated me. From the nurses who made me laugh when I felt my worst, to the doctors who explained every step and never gave up on finding what worked, I always felt safe, supported, and truly cared for.
Because of them, I got my strength back and now, I’m using that strength to run
This year, I’m running the Pittsburgh Half Marathon to raise money for Children’s Hospital and the Chron’s and Colitis foundation so other kids and families can experience the same incredible care I did. Every mile I run and every dollar raised goes toward helping kids fight their toughest battles with hope, comfort, and world-class care. I am truly proud to call Pittsburgh my home and can’t wait to run 13.1 miles for the causes I care so much about!
