My Story…

I’m running the Pittsburgh (full) Marathon to raise $2,500 for Variety The Children’s Charity of Pittsburgh, an amazing organization that truly changes lives. I was first introduced to Variety in 2013 through my work at Covestro, and I’ve seen firsthand how their support helps children and families across our region. Every mile I run is for the kids they serve and every donation helps make that impact possible. Thank you for supporting this journey!

Description

Your donation will help kids with disabilities BE KIDS, so please consider a gift of any amount to celebrate my running for VARIETY in the 2026 DICK'S Sporting goods Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend!

With a mission to empower children with disabilities to live life to the fullest, Variety the Children’s Charity provides social inclusion experiences and life-changing mobility and communication equipment to ensure our most vulnerable kids are no longer left out, left behind, or excluded.

Variety offers three adaptive equipment programs for eligible kids and families who can consider one, two, or all three pieces of equipment. These programs are truly opening newfound possibilities for kids and their families to live healthier, safer, and more fulfilling lives at home, school, and throughout the community!

  • Variety’s My Bike Program provides new Rifton adaptive bikes (including stationary stands and prescribed accessories) to eligible children with disabilities, so they can experience the joy, freedom, and belonging from riding a bike – including the therapeutic and recreational benefits.
  • Variety’s My Stroller Program provides Convaid EZ Rider adaptive strollers to eligible kids with disabilities to increase their mobility, inclusion, and safety - especially for ambulatory kids living with elopement issues and no safety awareness. An adaptive stroller allows for easier “on-the-go” mobility and participation in daily activities for the child and their whole family.
  • Variety’s My Voice Program provides a communication device (i.e., a restricted iPad with a prescribed communication app) to eligible children who are nonverbal (or have a communication disorder) to ensure they  are never without a voice.

Since Variety must raise the funds to provide every piece of equipment, any donation amount truly makes a difference!
