My Story…

My last Pittsburgh race day was the half marathon in 2022. Over many years, running to raise money in honor of my dad, George Simonson, helped me to share our family’s story, give him a voice as he was losing his, and find meaning in tragedy. ALS is brutal. I grieved and worked to heal my broken heart on those long training runs. Those runs were fueled sadness, anger, and hope and by all the amazing folks who had given to the cause. It’s time to get back to it and love out loud. I’m running the 1/2 on May 3rd. Please enjoy this throw back video from 11 years ago – my second marathon and first charity run after his diagnosis. My kids were (still are!) adorable.

My dad watched me complete the 2011 marathon. In 2017 my BIL, Tom, and I joined forces. Such great memories in the City of Bridges!
