My Story…
Did you know that 1 in 5 Pittsburgh residents lack access to nutritious food? This hunger crisis affects roughly 21% of Pittsburghers, including young children, disabled, and elderly. For many less fortunate people, food is seen as a stress rather than a joy. After paying for bills and other necessities, many people simply don’t have enough funds to afford enough food. Nobody should have to worry if they’re going to have enough food to fix their next meal; nobody should go to sleep with an empty stomach. No parent should sacrifice their own food to feed their hungry child.
As I was contemplating which organization to raise support for, I felt a push towards 412 Food Rescue. This organization’s mission is to “end food waste by turning surplus into sustenance, strengthening communities and protecting the planet.” With over 40% of food that is produced getting thrown away, 412 Food Rescue redistributes perfectly healthy food from restaurants, grocery stores, donors, etc. This prevents food from being wasted, while also preventing people going hungry (killing 2 birds with 1 stone).
Your donation will help this organization thrive and continue its work. 412 Food Rescue has thousands of volunteer drivers, but still needs funds to keep things going behind the scenes. Are you willing to play a part in ending hunger in Pittsburgh?
Thanks for considering!!
