My Story…

This year, I’m running the Pittsburgh Back Half Marathon with two very special souls on my mind and in my heart: Sully (RIP 2024) and Eddie (RIP 2025). Losing them left an emptiness that words don’t quite capture. But it also left behind something powerful—an overwhelming reminder of how deeply our animals love us, and how deeply we love them back.

In their honor, I’m raising $500 for The Izzie Fund, a local nonprofit that helps responsible pet owners get the medical care their fur babies desperately need. No one should have to choose between financial hardship and their pet’s health. The Izzie Fund steps in during those terrifying, vulnerable moments—when an animal is hurting, and a family is scared.

Sully and Eddie gave us years of companionship, comfort, joy, and unconditional love. Supporting The Izzie Fund feels like a way to take all that love they poured into our lives and give it forward. It’s a way to help another family keep their pet healthy. A way to bring hope where it’s needed most.

Every mile I run will be for them.
Every dollar raised will be for pets like them.
And every bit of support brings us closer to helping another family keep their beloved companion by their side.

If you’re able to donate—whether it’s a small gift or something more—thank you. Your kindness helps honor Sully and Eddie’s memory in a way that truly matters.

🐾 Thank you for helping me turn their love into something lasting.

Description

Founded in 2022, The Izzie Fund is a Pittsburgh-based all volunteer run nonprofit dedicated to helping local dogs and their families financially access specialized veterinary care when the cost of treatment is otherwise out of reach. To date, The Izzie Fund has granted over $90,000 to family-owned dogs in need.

Our mission is to provide financial support to responsible dog owners when there are still medical options recommended and available. Our purpose:

  • Reduce financial barriers to care
  • Promote early intervention, by empowering pet owners with education and resources that support long-term health and wellness.
  • Reduce the burden on local shelters.

Because no one should lose their best friend over cost.
