My Story…
We are running with purpose! As co chair of the Variety Movement Board (VMB) - a dynamic group of community leaders committed to advancing the mission of Variety - the Children's Charity of Pittsburgh, we are hitting the Pittsburgh Marathon relay to support children with different abilities and their families.
Variety empowers kids to live life to the fullest by providing life changing mobility and communication equipment, inclusive experiences, and opportunities for belonging. The VMB brings together emerging leaders within Variety's service area to raise awareness, strengthen community engagement, and create meaningful impact across our region.
Our team is running to support this mission and celebrate what is possible when community bands together. Your support helps Variety provide adaptive bikes, communication devices, adaptive strollers and more. Let's give kids the freedom, confidence, and inclusion they deserve.

With a mission to empower children with disabilities to live life to the fullest, Variety the Children’s Charity provides social inclusion experiences and life-changing mobility and communication equipment to ensure our most vulnerable kids are no longer left out, left behind, or excluded.
Variety offers three adaptive equipment programs for eligible kids and families who can consider one, two, or all three pieces of equipment. These programs are truly opening newfound possibilities for kids and their families to live healthier, safer, and more fulfilling lives at home, school, and throughout the community!
- Variety’s My Bike Program provides new Rifton adaptive bikes (including stationary stands and prescribed accessories) to eligible children with disabilities, so they can experience the joy, freedom, and belonging from riding a bike – including the therapeutic and recreational benefits.
- Variety’s My Stroller Program provides Convaid EZ Rider adaptive strollers to eligible kids with disabilities to increase their mobility, inclusion, and safety - especially for ambulatory kids living with elopement issues and no safety awareness. An adaptive stroller allows for easier “on-the-go” mobility and participation in daily activities for the child and their whole family.
- Variety’s My Voice Program provides a communication device (i.e., a restricted iPad with a prescribed communication app) to eligible children who are nonverbal (or have a communication disorder) to ensure they are never without a voice.
Since Variety must raise the funds to provide every piece of equipment, any donation amount truly makes a difference!
