My Story…
Welcome!
Hi, I'm Mandy, and this will be my first ever half-marathon! I'm excited! It's been a goal of mine for about 20 years to run a marathon, and I've finally taken the first steps.
It was another first that led me to this particular marathon and this particular charity. On March 25th, 2023, I became a first-time mom. My son, Evan, has brought us indescribable joy, but there were some hardships involved. I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia, and Evan had growth restriction, so I was admitted early to the Magee-Women's Hospital in Pittsburgh. Evan ended up being born at 32 weeks and 2 days by C-section, and unfortunately, he spent a great deal of time in the NICU. The nurses and doctors took incredible care of my son and me, and I truly credit both of our lives to them (and to God, of course).
I'm so thankful for the care I received at Magee, which is why I've chosen them as my charity for this half-marathon.
