My Story…

Last year, I found myself in a situation no pet owner ever wants to face. My dog needed emergency veterinary care, and within moments I was staring at a bill that totaled several thousand dollars. In that moment, it felt like an impossible choice—how do you put a price on the life of a family member?

We made it work, and thankfully, she’s still here today—happy, healthy, and a constant reminder of how lucky we were. But that experience opened my eyes to a heartbreaking reality: not everyone is able to say the same. Too many loving pet owners are forced into devastating decisions simply because they can’t afford urgent care.

That’s why this cause means so much to me. Every dollar raised helps give families more time, more options, and more hope when they need it most. I’m running not just for my dog, but for every pet and person who deserves a fighting chance.

The Izzie Fund exists to provide financial support to responsible dog owners when there are still medical options available & gives them an opportunity to make the best medical decision on behalf of their dog without the worry of financial burden.

Description

Founded in 2022, The Izzie Fund is a Pittsburgh-based all volunteer run nonprofit dedicated to helping local dogs and their families financially access specialized veterinary care when the cost of treatment is otherwise out of reach. To date, The Izzie Fund has granted over $90,000 to family-owned dogs in need.

Our mission is to provide financial support to responsible dog owners when there are still medical options recommended and available. Our purpose:

  • Reduce financial barriers to care
  • Promote early intervention, by empowering pet owners with education and resources that support long-term health and wellness.
  • Reduce the burden on local shelters.

Because no one should lose their best friend over cost.
