My Story…
This year, I’m proud to dedicate my Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend efforts to Animal Friends, the wonderful nonprofit animal shelter where I both work and volunteer. Your donation helps care for homeless pets and supports lifesaving work.
As part of the 2026 Marathon Weekend, I’ll be running the 5K on Saturday, May 2nd, and serving as a medical volunteer with the Red Cross during the main event on Sunday, May 3rd. I’m excited to be involved in this new way.
Pictured here are Sugar Cookie and Haven, an adorable bonded pair who were surrendered when their previous owner recognized she could no longer care for her many animals. Initially very scared of new people and situations, they were shown patient, gentle care, came out of their shells, and were adopted together into a new loving home.

- Rescue and Rehabilitation: We rescue animals in crisis and provide necessary medical care and rehabilitation to prepare them for adoption.

- Education and Advocacy: We offer educational programs and advocate for animal welfare to ensure healthy pets and responsible pet ownership.
- Affordable Services: We provide affordable veterinary services through their Animal Wellness Center.
- Community Engagement: We inspire and nurture the animal-human bond through various community events and programs.
