My Story…
This year, I’m running my first marathon, and I’m honored to be fundraising for two organizations that reflect both the support I’ve received and the values I want to run toward: the Immigration Project and the American Cancer Society.
Training for my first marathon has shown me that endurance is never built alone. I wouldn’t be doing this without friends who shared their knowledge, encouragement, and time—helping me find my footing and reminding me that access and support matter when you’re doing something hard. That belief is why I chose to support the Immigration Project, which provides legal services, advocacy, and education to immigrants and refugees across Central Illinois, where I grew up, and Southern Illinois, where I have made my home. Their work makes dignity, safety, and stability more accessible in our local communities.
I’m also running for the American Cancer Society in honor of my mom and loves ones who have been impacted by cancer. If there’s any group of people who truly understand endurance, grit, and what it means to keep going through the hardest moments, it’s those who fight cancer and the loved ones who stand beside them.
Thank you for supporting this run and these causes in any way you can.
