This April, I’m running in the Annual Pat’s Run – Tillman Honor Run in New York City. For me, this isn’t just a race. Pat Tillman’s decision to leave the NFL and serve after 9/11 deeply influenced my own choice to join the military. His example of courage, conviction, and service above self left a mark on me long before I ever put on a uniform. Running this year is my way of honoring his legacy; not only by showing up, but by supporting the next generation who carry that same spirit forward. The Pat Tillman Foundation invests in Tillman Scholars: service members, veterans, and military spouses pursuing higher education and continued impact in fields like medicine, law, business, education, and public service. These scholars are leaders committed to making a difference in and out of uniform.
