CAFNS has allowed me to connect the youth I work with to opportunities they would not have had without access to funding.
Description
There have always been gaps in the system for our most vulnerable children. Governments and organizations do their best to provide for at-risk kids, but not all their necessities can be met.
That’s why the Children’s Aid Foundation of Halifax was formed in 1997. The Foundation’s job was to raise funds to ensure vulnerable kids and youth got what they needed, when they needed it. Tutoring. Oral health care. Camps. Sports and recreation. Emergency care. Our mandate was kept deliberately broad so we could be flexible enough to respond to the changing conditions and the changing needs of the young people we serve.
Since our start as a fund-raising arm of the former Children’s Aid Society of Halifax, we’re proud to say we have provided over $1,000,000 to enhance the lives of over 10,000 kids and youth. In the past year alone, we helped 1,350 kids by providing support and services worth over $200,000.
This summer, we’re aiming to send 25 children to camp across Nova Scotia—and we need your help to make it happen. Last year, the average cost to send one child to camp was $400. Your support will help provide life-changing summer experiences for kids who deserve joy, connection, and a chance to just be kids.
“The CAFNS funding provided two youth I work with. They had ‘the best time ever’ at summer camp this year. They made positive social connections, learned many new skills and did things that scared and surprised themselves!”
