My Story…
Our Domestic Tax team is participating in the Bluenose Marathon Relay event again this year. This is our second year participating in this team event. Our team is made up of 8 Doane Grant Thornton Domestic Tax Team Members.
This year our team has decided to raise money for HomeBridge Youth Society - Child And Youth Caring Programs | Homebridge Youth Society | Nova Scotia . The Association is known for the Development of Children's Residential Facilities. This charitable, non-profit organization was established by front line social workers who identified a need for residential care in the child welfare system. The organization grew to six residential, youth caring facilities throughout the Halifax Regional Municipality and a school program. Approximately 100 young people reside in the facilities annually.
If you would like to support this great organization, please donate to our page.
Thank you!!
Description
As a result of the circumstances that bring them to be in care, the youth served by HomeBridge have often had more negative experiences than positive ones. These experiences include abuse, neglect, abandonment, significant loss and complex trauma. The sad reality is, we cannot change what’s happened to them before they come to us, but what we can do is provide them with as many positive experiences and opportunities as possible while they are with us. This is what your donation will support. HomeBridge fundraises annually to fund arts-based programming, Recreation Therapy, educational support and other therapeutic, life-skill building programs.
