My Story…
Anyone who knows me knows 2 things:
1) Mental health is extremely important to me, and a cause I care deeply about
2) I HATE running and have absolutely zero cardio
This year, I decided to challenge myself to re-start moving my body and to find joy in movement, as a way to support my mental health and to help me live a longer and healthier life. Part of the challenge includes putting myself out of my comfort zone by doing one of the things I dread the absolute most - running. SO, I signed up for the 5KM race at the Toronto Marathon, on May 3rd, 2026! I know 5KM is not much... But as I am writing this (mid-Feb 2026), my current abilities can be summed up to my heart being just about to explode after 1KM of light jog. So, let's just say that any extra ounce of motivation will be crucial to help me accomplish this goal! There is no better way to encourage me than to remind me that I am not only doing this for my own health, but also to support the mental health of my community.
