Help [participant] make a lasting difference through the 2026 Servus Calgary Marathon in support of BC & Alberta Guide Dogs. Your donation helps provide life changing Guide Dogs and Service Dogs that bring confidence, independence, and connection back into people’s lives. Every dollar raised helps change lives, just as Jamie’s life changed when she was partnered with Kevin. Thank you for helping create that kind of impact. We invite you to read her story below.

                                                                              Jamie & Kevin

“It feels like Kevin was always meant to be my partner. I knew bringing a service dog home would help. I expected support, companionship, maybe a bit more independence. What I didn’t expect was how deeply Kevin would weave himself into my family, my routines, and honestly, my heart.

Before Kevin, I did a lot quietly. I pushed through pain, fatigue, uncertainty, and overwhelm without saying much. When you’re used to coping, you learn to shrink your life down to what feels manageable. Kevin changed that.

With him beside me, my world got bigger again. I walk with more confidence. I go places I used to avoid or make my husband come with me for backup. I rest when my body needs to, because Kevin notices before I do. He gives me freedom, support, and a sense of dignity that’s hard to explain unless you’ve lived without it. He has helped shift my life out of just “survival” mode.

But the simple truth is Kevin’s heroic work didn’t start with me. It began with all of you. People like Miranda, who trained him with skill and a lot of patience, even on the days when he probably believed carpet lint was an entire food group, or when she had to answer my panicked texts about what sort of shenanigans Kevin got up to.

So when Kevin helps me navigate a complicated moment, interrupts my overthinking, or gives my kids a nose boop that makes them melt, that isn’t just Kevin. That belongs to every single person who poured into him along the way.

To the puppy raisers, the boarders, the trainers, the donors, the staff, and every volunteer: what you do matters far more than you may ever see. You don’t just raise dogs. You raise possibility. You raise confidence. You raise dignity. You raise hope.

Kevin is more than a service dog to me. He is the steady presence beside me on the days when things feel dark. He reminds me I’m not doing this alone. He gives me back parts of myself I thought were lost.

So, from my heart, thank you. I am one of the lives you changed.”
