5K Foam Fest Volunteer Details
Welcome to the Electrolit 5K Foam Fest! This isn’t a hardcore race, this is a FUNCORE race! Foam Fest participants are taking part to have a blast while supporting an amazing cause: Make-A-Wish!
There’s something at the Electrolit 5K Foam Fest for everyone! Alongside the obstacle course, there is a festival area where spectators can relax and enjoy food and drinks from our vendors while listening to the live DJ. There are fun activities for children including a bouncy castle and mini obstacle course and participants can take home additional mementos for purchase at our merchandise tent.
Event Schedule
7:00 AM Participants start arriving
7:45 AM The first wave of runners leaves the start line
Waves continue every 15/20 minutes until approx 2:00 PM
3:30 PM - 4:30 PM The last runners cross the finish line and pick up their bags
Festival grounds remain open until 5:00 PM
Shifts Details and Duties
Morning Gear Check Shift: 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Afternoon Gear Check Shift: 11:30 AM - 4:30 PM
All Day Gear Check Shift: 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM
In support of Make-A-Wish Canada, Gear Check volunteers help participants at the Gear Check area. Your key responsibilities include:
Welcome participants at Gear Check.
Collect a minimum $5 donation per bag for gear storage.
Ensure each participant receives a wristband for their wrist and a matching wristband goes on their checked bag.
Direct participants to hang their bags in the area matching their wristband.
When participants pick up their checked bags, ensure the number on their wristband matches the number on their bag.
Morning Festival Shift: 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Afternoon Festival Shift: 11:30 AM - 4:30 PM
All Day Festival Shift: 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Festival area volunteers help out at registration, kids zone, merchandise tent, start/finish line, or course obstacles!
**Please note that depending on the needs of the event you may be asked to help out in other areas.**
What Do You Get?
Volunteering at the Electrolit 5K Foam Fest is rewarding! Here's what you'll receive:
A Free Run!
Morning Shift: 1 free ticket to a future event or 1 free run with the last wave of runners upon completion of your shift with approval from the Event Supervisor.
Afternoon Shift: 1 free ticket to a future event.
Full Day Shift: 2 free tickets to a future event.
Parking Pass: Park at the event venue for free.
Electrolit 5K Foam Fest snack pack: While snacks will be provided during your shift, we recommend bringing a packed lunch to keep you fueled throughout the day. There’s lots of water available to refill your water bottle.
Getting Ready to Volunteer
Here’s what you need to know to make the most of your volunteer experience:
When you arrive for your shift, you can go directly to the blue Make-A-Wish Gear Check tent where a member of the Foam Fest team will meet you shortly after your arrival to run through the gear check process and answer any questions.
Dress for the Weather: Make sure to wear comfortable clothing and shoes that you don’t mind getting wet, muddy, or foamy. You’ll be given a volunteer vest to wear, which will help participants identify you.
Closed toed shoes are required. No sandals or flip-flops.
At the end of your shift, make sure you check in with the Event Supervisor.
Recommended Items to Bring
To ensure you’re comfortable during your shift, we recommend bringing the following:
Backpack with personal belongings
Water bottle to stay hydrated
Extra food/snacks to keep your energy up
Sun protection and insect repellent
