My Story…

I’ll be taking part in the Chevron City to Surf for genU virtual event, which runs over a two-week window from 24 August to 6 September — but with a twist:
👉 For every $100 raised, I’ll run the full 12km event once during those 14 days
👉 Which means if I reach my goal of $1,400, I’ll run 12km every single day for all 14 days
I started at genU in the Communications team in January, and from day one I was struck by the incredible work happening across the organisation. After spending the last 10 years working in the gambling industry, it’s been a powerful shift to be part of something that genuinely and positively impacts so many lives. I can honestly say I feel a real sense of pride in the work we do and the people we support.
One of the highlights of my role so far has been attending the amazing activity days run by the Inclusion team. Getting to spend time with clients is incredibly special, it never really feels like work. Seeing the joy, connection and opportunities these experiences create is something I won’t forget. So, in a somewhat selfish way, I’m really excited to play a small part in helping ensure these kinds of events can continue - so I can keep attending them!
That’s why I’m taking on the Chevron City to Surf for genU, to give back in a meaningful way and support the organisation that’s already given me so much. Running has become a huge part of my life recently, so this challenge feels like the perfect fit.
