On March 14, 2025, we lost someone deeply loved — Bill McGinley.

One year later, on the anniversary of his passing, we are launching this memorial fundraising page in his honour.

Bill devoted himself wholeheartedly to the Colorectal Cancer Resource & Action Network (CCRAN) and its annual Bum Run fundraiser. As Chair of the Patient Advisory Council, he brought compassion, integrity, and steady leadership to the organization. He believed deeply in supporting patients and families facing colorectal cancer, and he worked tirelessly to ensure they felt heard, informed, and encouraged.

What many may not have fully seen is that some of Bill’s most dedicated fundraising years came during one of the most difficult chapters of his own journey. Following the recurrence of his disease, while undergoing treatment, he made CCRAN and the Bum Run an even greater priority. During those four challenging years, Bill — with the generosity and support of his colleagues, his family, and his friends — raised more than $80,000.

He showed up when it would have been understandable not to. He gave when he himself was carrying so much. He continued to build community, encourage others, and focus forward with determination and hope.

His mantra was simple: sunnydays. It reflected his determined outlook — an insistence on light, even in dark seasons.

This memorial page is our way of continuing that spirit.
