My Story…

While I haven’t been directly impacted myself, this cause is very personal to me. I never had the chance to meet my mother-in-law, who lost her life to colorectal cancer. It’s also something I’m seeing more and more around me—many people under the age of 30 are now being diagnosed, which is both alarming and heartbreaking. Colorectal cancer is no longer just something that affects older adults. It’s happening younger, and that means awareness, early detection, and accessible screening are more important than ever—especially here in Nova Scotia. I’m taking part in this run to help raise funds that support research, increase awareness, and push for earlier screening guidelines below the age of 50. Every step taken and every dollar raised brings us closer to catching this disease earlier and saving lives.
