My Story…
Hi! I'm Matt, and I'm honored to be running the TC 10 Mile with Second Harvest Heartland.
I've been a runner since I was 12 years old, when my parents took me on my first run down to the local Hy-Vee in Rochester, MN. That was the day I discovered the runner's high, and I've been hooked ever since.
I've been blessed to run several races in my life, including the Med City Half Marathon (2012), the Ulaanbaatar Half (2014), and the Twin Cities Marathon (2018). This year, for the first time, I decided I wanted to run for a cause beyond just setting a PR, conquering a new distance, or running in another country: for people who are too scared to leave their homes due to Operation Metro Surge. For people who cannot afford basic necessities like food because they cannot go to work. For anyone struggling with food insecurity because they don't know when the next meal will come -- something that many of us take for granted.
I hope you'll consider joining me and giving to Second Harvest as they do all their great work in our area!
Description
I am participating in a Twin Cities Marathon Weekend race and have chosen to support Second Harvest Heartland as a charity runner!
Second Harvest Heartland is a leading hunger-relief organization. In partnership with more than 1,000 food shelves and hunger-relief programs in Minnesota and western Wisconsin, they provided more than 143 million meals to neighbors last year. They also help families enroll in food assistance and provide prepared meals for people who need more than groceries. Second Harvest Heartland is a leader, convener and voice in hunger-related policy discussions.
I'm proud to run for a cause that matters to me and my community during the weekend of October 2-4. Please support me in my efforts!
