My Story…
Hennepin Healthcare holds a special place in my heart for many reasons. My mom, Gwen, has been followed by the high-risk breast team at Hennepin due to her family history of breast cancer. At one of her appointments in 2023, the team found a small spot on mammogram that my mom agreed to aggressively investigate. Soon after, my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, just a few short months after her sister was diagnosed with breast cancer, as well. My mom’s diagnosis and prognosis may have looked very different if it weren’t for the radiologists and breast teams at Hennepin Healthcare, and I am eternally grateful for their thorough, empathetic, and compassionate care for my mother.
Hennepin Healthcare is the safety net hospital and health system in Minnesota whose mission is to provide medical care to everyone, their vision emphasizing exceptional care without exception. In college, I had the opportunity to be a pharmacy technician at Hennepin Healthcare where I saw firsthand how Hennepin Healthcare focuses on equity in healthcare. I feel very proud to have had this experience, and I hope to continue the advocacy for this patient population even far away from home.

Our unique position of being Minnesota's largest level one trauma center, safety net, and public teaching hospital offers innovative ways to influence the health of our community. Most people don't realize that Hennepin County funding for Hennepin Healthcare accounts for less than 3% of its annual budget, providing numerous opportunities for philanthropy to make an impact. Generosity removes barriers to healthcare access, enhances the patient and family experience, and advances efforts in medical education, clinical research, and community health.
