My Story…
At 55—what I like to call “double nickels”—I decided it was time to start checking off a few life goals I once thought might be behind me.
Over the past year I committed to getting healthier and changing my lifestyle. That journey has led to losing more than 100 pounds and discovering that it’s never too late to pursue new challenges.
Running the Twin Cities Half Marathon is one of several milestones on my list, along with hiking rim-to-rim across the Grand Canyon and climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. Each goal is a reminder that our best years don’t have to be behind us.
I’m proud to run this race in support of Second Harvest Heartland, a leading hunger-relief organization that works with more than 1,000 food shelves and programs across Minnesota and western Wisconsin. Last year alone they helped provide more than 143 million meals to neighbors in need and work every day to connect families with the food and support they need.
This race represents more than miles for me—it’s proof that with determination and a willingness to start, even at 55, you can still rewrite your story and live your healthiest life while helping others along the way.
Description
I am participating in a Twin Cities Marathon Weekend race and have chosen to support Second Harvest Heartland as a charity runner!
Second Harvest Heartland is a leading hunger-relief organization. In partnership with more than 1,000 food shelves and hunger-relief programs in Minnesota and western Wisconsin, they provided more than 143 million meals to neighbors last year. They also help families enroll in food assistance and provide prepared meals for people who need more than groceries. Second Harvest Heartland is a leader, convener and voice in hunger-related policy discussions.
I'm proud to run for a cause that matters to me and my community during the weekend of October 2-4. Please support me in my efforts!
