My Story…
RUNNING 13.1 TO HELP MAKE CAMP FUN ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE
Hi friends!
After completing my first (and likely last😅) full marathon last year, I'm back "fund-racing," again raising money for scholarships that help make transformative camp experiences accessible to more kids through YMCA Adventure programming. This time around, I'll be running the Twin Cities Half Marathon for More on October 4th.
This cause is near and dear to me as a former Y camper and now going on four years working for the Y on their development team, currently as the director of donor engagement and annual giving, while my own kiddo has also found a second home with the Y, attending our local Y's Early Childhood Learning Center since she was an infant. (She will no doubt be a proud Y camper one day, too!)
Growing up, some of my favorite childhood memories were made at Y camps. As a camper, I discovered confidence, independence, friendship, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors. Those experiences helped shape who I am today, and I believe every kid deserves the opportunity to experience the same sense of adventure and belonging.

In a world filled with screens, schedules, and constant distractions, camp offers something increasingly rare: the chance for young people to unplug, connect with nature, build meaningful relationships, and discover what they're capable of.
Unfortunately, opportunities for outdoor adventure are out of reach for many families. One of the Y's foundational pillars is removing financial barriers to ensure its programs and offerings are accessible to all, including its 17 day and overnight camps.
Every year, more than $550,000 is provided in camp scholarship funding to make sure no family is turned away due to inability to pay — paving the way for more kids and teens from diverse backgrounds to experience the life-changing impact of camp. Currently, the need for scholarship support continues to rise as many families face heightened financial hardship. Our goal is to meet this need head on, and that's where you come in!
As I train for 13.1 miles, I'm asking you to join me in supporting this mission. Simply put, every gift — no matter the amount — will go directly toward creating opportunities for more kids to explore, connect, grow, and thrive in the outdoors through Y Adventure programs.
Thank you for considering a donation to help me reach my goal and keep the magic of camp accessible for the next generation of adventurers. I am deeply grateful!
