My Story...
I was born in Somalia, raised in Minneapolis. I know what it means to grow up in a community that has to fight for basic resources — and I know what changes when that fight is finally won.
That’s why on October 4, 2026, I’m running all 26.2 miles of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon — in honor of the millions who walk that distance and more every day just to access clean water.
Earlier this year I joined Tanzania Life Project, a nonprofit building solar-powered clean water systems in rural Tanzania. As their Social Media Director, I help tell these stories. This marathon is my way of going further.
Every dollar builds something that lasts. Will you run with me?
Description
I'm a member of the Tanzania Life Project team and running (and/or walking) a race as part of the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon Weekend to help bring clean water access to communities in Tanzania.
Access to clean water changes everything—health, education, and opportunity for children and families. Together through Tanzania Life Project, we’re helping make that possible.
Every mile we run and every dollar raised goes toward sustainable clean water solutions, hygiene education, and human rights governance that empowers women and girls to overcome societal barriers that limit their opportunities. That's creating lasting impact!
Join our team or donate to support a runner and be part of something bigger than the race.
