My Story…
When my mom, Esther, was diagnosed with cancer in 2002, my six siblings and I experienced deep human connection and compassionate advocacy from our friends and neighbors. We were kept fed with hotdish and bars, friends' parents drove us to school, and my mom's church threw us a big ol' fundraiser.
Despite all that care, my family faced unexpected challenges and cancer's financial toxicity. My mom died in 2003, and her medical debt was transferred to my dad. Juggling this huge influx of debt, our grief, and our terrible new normal without our mom, our family finances snowballed and we lost our home.
This has shaped my life and my outlook, and I am so grateful to know that Cancer Legal Care is here to help families like mine. The free legal services Cancer Legal Care provides helps to mitigate the legal and financial harm a cancer diagnosis has on individuals, families, and communities.

Description
Cancer Legal Care is a nonprofit law firm that works to resolve the complex challenges facing Minnesotans affected by cancer. We do this by providing free legal care services to cancer patients and their families to help them plan for the future, stay in their homes, manage employment transitions, and mitigate the financial toxicity that so often comes with a cancer diagnosis.
Our staff and volunteer attorneys cut through the noise and the stress of a cancer diagnosis so that patients can focus on getting better.
