My Story…
Hi, I’m Monica Retka — a competitive swimmer in a former life who still finds her way back into a race suit every now and then. This year, I’m taking on the Point to La Pointe swim to celebrate a meaningful season of life and look ahead to what’s next with my fiancé, Taylor.
This swim is about more than the challenge. It supports the Bayfield Rec Center, which provides year-round, often free or subsidized access to recreational programs — including learn-to-swim and sailing — for people of all ages in the Chequamegon Bay area.
Swimming has always been a big part of my life, and I care deeply about expanding access to water safety, confidence, and joy in the water. For me, this is about honoring the journey, celebrating community, and chasing something a little extraordinary 💙
