My Story…
Hello & thank you for visiting -
This August I will be swimming 2 miles in the invigorating & magical waters of Lake Superior from Bayfield to La Pointe on Madeline Island. The photo on my page is from 2024 when I volunteered as a Safety Paddler. This year it's time to swim!
This event continues to hold more significance for me, as it is unfinished business as a part of my recovery from a prostatectomy in April 2025. In October of 2024, I was diagnosed with Unfavorable Intermediate Risk prostate cancer. Fortunately, the surgery was very successful and my prognosis is excellent.
My Mid-Life Brothers - be sure to monitor your Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) levels at annual physicals. Early detection is critical. I was asymptomatic and wouldn't have known of any issues besides the elevated PSA's the last few years. I guess that's a PSA PSA! ;)
Besides the challenge and motivation to maintain my health, I am swimming to support and raise funds for Recreation and Fitness Resources (RFR). RFR provides critical & affordable programs, classes & events that promote healthy, fun, and active lifestyles.
