I’m running for Debut Atlantic’s Music Moves Us because I believe in the transformative power of the arts. As a teacher with programs like TNS Perform, I’ve seen the magic of theatre take over an entire community. In Cape Smokey, the whole town got involved. Young people found their voices, communities connected, and lives were changed. I know that magic because I was once a kid who needed it, too. Without music and theatre in school, I might never have become an artist. Now, as a social worker with SchoolsPlus, I see firsthand the void created when these opportunities are cut. The arts aren’t a luxury — they’re connection, belonging, harm reduction, and medicine. So I’m running for the kids, for artists, for our communities, and for all of us. Because investing in the arts means investing in people.
