My Story…
Last year, I laced up for the Around the Bay 30km with a very personal goal — to give back to the incredible team at St. Joe’s Urology Department after receiving exceptional care during a kidney stone operation.
What I didn’t plan for… was a “live demonstration” of a moving kidney stones mid-race.
At about the 20km mark, somewhere between determination and poor life choices, I dropped another kidney stone. Not exactly the kind of split time you want to record. I finished the race however, the next day I found myself reacquainted with Dr. Lambe and his outstanding team — who, once again, took incredible care of me.
So here we are again.
This year, I’m back for another 30km — hopefully with a smoother experience — continuing to raise funds for St. Joe’s Urology Department. And in a much smarter move, I’ve convinced others to join me: we now have a team running together in support of this great cause.
It also happens to be the 30th anniversary of McCallumSather… which feels like the perfect excuse (or coincidence) to take on 30km.
I’m looking forward to a great race day, supporting an exceptional group of healthcare professionals, and — most importantly — crossing the finish line without any unexpected medical “encores.”
Thanks to everyone supporting this cause. And if all goes according to plan this year… the only thing I’ll be passing is the finish line.
Description
Welcome to my fundraising page!
This year I’m taking on the Around the Bay Road Race and raising funds for St. Joseph’s Healthcare Foundation. St. Joe’s is the heart of Hamilton — nearly everyone I know has been touched by the exceptional care provided here.
Funds raised through Around the Bay will buy much‑needed healthcare equipment at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. It may seem surprising that items like ultrasound machines, wheelchairs, and other essential devices aren’t covered by provincial operating dollars. The truth is nearly every piece of equipment used in the Hospital is funded by donations from people like you and events like the Bay Race.
Please know that the money you help me raise has a real, immediate impact on the lives of patients at St. Joe’s. Your support buys the tools clinicians use every day to diagnose, treat, and comfort our neighbours.
Thank you for donating to my campaign and for helping fund the equipment that cares at St. Joe’s.
