Help Sahar raise money

Greetings friends, family, and general well-wishers! 

I hate running. I hate the cold. I also hate waking up early on Sunday mornings. My profile picture is of me en route to run the Around the Bay 5K on a freakishly cold Sunday morning in 2024. Why would I subject myself to so many things that I hate all at once? Because thanks to St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton, I have the privilege of being able to do so. 

In 2019, the incredible team at St. Joe’s saved my life after I experienced deep vein thrombosis and a pulmonary embolism so severe that I went into multiple cardiac arrests. Because of their skill and unstoppable compassion, I am here today. I run the Around the Bay Road Race in gratitude and I volunteer on St. Joe’s Patient & Family Advisory Council to give back to the hospital that has given me everything.

This year, on Sunday, April 12th, I will be running my first ever 10K to raise money to help buy much‑needed healthcare equipment at St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton. It may seem surprising that items like ultrasound machines, wheelchairs, and other essential devices aren’t covered by provincial operating dollars. The truth is nearly every piece of equipment used in the Hospital is funded by donations from people like you and events like the Bay Race. So I am asking you, if you are able, to dig deep and help support the hospital that cares for so many Hamiltonians and those in surrounding areas every single day.
