For more than 80 years, Brightwater Health (formally Human Development Center, HDC) has been leading the way in bringing cutting-edge mental health and addiction services to the Northland. With more than 28 mental programs across the Minnesota counties of St. Louis, Cook, and Carlton, and Douglas County, Wisconsin, we are proud to be the largest mental health provider in our community. We are the only Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic north of the Twin Cities. We offer anyone care, regardless of their ability to pay. HDC is also home to area Outreach Centers, Runaway Youth Programs, Homeless Programs and partners with many area human service non-profits.
Everything Brightwater Health does promotes the empowerment of all who live, work, and play in our community.
Almost ½ of all US adults will experience mental illness in their lifetime. The majority of these individuals will not seek treatment due to stigma, cost or other reasons. Affordable, effective treatments exist, but ignoring these problems costs our communities so much more than caring for them now.
We can and must do better! Join us in providing services no matter what.
Donations to Brightwater Health go to programs and specific needs such as:
- Individuals who come to Brightwater Health can expect to receive rapid, unobstructed access to care, regardless of personal circumstances or ability to pay.
- We can continue providing free and confidential on-line mental health screenings to anyone seeking care.
- We can continue to provide free lunches, shelter and social activities through our Outreach and Community Centers in the Northland for all-ages with donors support.
