Help Me Support Conservation!

Help me fundraise, 100% of my funds raised will go to help the non-profit Phoenix Zoo! Home to more than 3,000 animals, many of which are endangered or threatened species, the Zoo is also committed to supporting wildlife and habitat conservation in the region and across the globe. The wildlife recovery and research programs based at the Zoo are focused on boosting wild populations of 10 imperiled Arizona native species. The Zoo engages in field research, working with universities, other conservation organizations and private land managers to better understand wildlife in Arizona, Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia and beyond. Zoo Move & Groove is an exclusive fundraising event. All proceeds benefit the non-profit Phoenix Zoo. Thank you!

Description

I’m raising funds for the Phoenix Zoo’s conservation programs! This year’s race features a special focus on sringsnails — small but mighty creatures that play an important role in keeping desert waters healthy.

Springsnails are tiny aquatic snails, no bigger than a grain of rice, that live in springs and seeps across the western United States. Despite their size, they help control algae, maintain water quality, and recycle nutrients that other wildlife depend on. The Phoenix Zoo works with three Arizona species — the San Bernardino springsnail, the Huachuca springsnail, and the Quitobaquito tryonia — all of which face serious threats from groundwater loss, habitat damage, invasive species and wildfire impacts.

Funds raised through this event support the Phoenix Zoo’s ongoing conservation efforts for 11 native Arizona species. Through the Arthur L. and Elaine V. Johnson Conservation Center, Zoo scientists breed and raise animals for release, conduct research, and work with partners to restore and protect fragile habitats.

Every dollar helps make a difference for Arizona’s wildlife, from tiny springsnails to some of the state’s most iconic species. Please consider donating or sharing my page: [fundraising link]
